Cedar: Population Included as part of Nanaimo statistics
Located near the east coast of Vancouver Island — about 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) southeast of Nanaimo.
The town is aptly named because of the number of Western Red Cedar trees. The western red cedar is British Columbia’s official tree. This small town consists of a few services and is mostly agricultural land. Being part of the Nanaimo Regional District it is inevitable that Cedar will be growing in the years to come.
Cedar’s close proximity to South Gate Mall, Country Grocer, Rona, a Credit Union, restaurants and….. Tim Hortons. Cedar has 49th Parallel Grocery store, a few cafes, and the wonderful fine dining of Mahle House. Close by is the Crow and Gate Pub for those who desire an authentic English pub dinner.
